I am a Gen X Yiddishe Mamme who arrived in the San Francisco Bay Area seven years ago by way of Montreal, Toronto, Washington,D.C., Jerusalem and New York. I live with my husband, three sons, and Bear the Mitzvah Dog.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service degree from Georgetown University and an M.A. from The Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and I have done graduate level study at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem. For close to two decades, I worked in Jewish education in day schools, synagogues, museums and central communal agencies.
My fifth grade teacher said I would grow up to be a writer, and an advisor at college predicted that I would go on to teach. Looks like both of them were right.
Oh, and for the requisite personal tidbit…Let me see…Would the disclosure that I am severely lactose intolerant suffice?
Just in case you were wondering, that is not my likeness on my blog’s header. That is Molly Goldberg (aka Gertrude Berg), the quintessential Yiddishe Mamme.
Curious about the name of this blog? Find out why it is called Truth, Praise and Help by reading my first post (Musings of a Gen X Yiddishe Mamme).
I can be reached by email at greatmom@gmail.com and look forward to hearing from you.

I saw the movie Yoo Hoo Mrs. Goldberg. What a role model. You are following in illustrious footsteps and this will bring you much success! Mazel Tov on such a great start.

Hi Renee!
I’m from the Jewish Women’s Archive and I would love to get in touch with you about a fun opportunity, but I wasn’t able to find your email. If you could email me at editor@jwa.org, that would be great!
Looking forward to speaking with you!
