As Halloween approached less than a month following Steve Job’s death, I was wondering whether his family would elaborately decorate their house and welcome trick-or-treaters, as was their usual custom.
I happened to pass by their home late in the afternoon yesterday and saw that there was some frantic activity going on, and realized that — yes — they were getting ready for Halloween. So, I went over there with my youngest son once it got dark, and we joined the many other trick-or-treaters there, whose holiday levity was tinged with the weight of a palpable sadness.
